1. The Water That Falls from a Hundred Zhang
Baizhangji lies in Wencheng County and is the heart of the Baizhangji–Feiyun Lake scenic area. The falls come down in three tiers; the first is the highest, dropping straight from the cliff top for close to a hundred zhang (a zhang is about 3.3 metres) — hence the name.
Only standing on the viewing platform do you realise "a hundred zhang" is no exaggeration. The water crashes down and the wind tears it into mist; one gust and your clothes are damp within moments. Everyone crowded along the railing taking photos, wiping their lenses again and again.

2. The Road Up
From the falls the path climbs in stone steps and boardwalks.
The group stretched out: those in front were already waving from the bend while those behind were still taking photos. Red vests wound through the trees in strings — easy to pick out from a distance.

3. Liu Bowen's Hometown
In the afternoon the focus shifted from water to a person.
Liu Ji, courtesy name Bowen, was born in Nantian, Wencheng, and was a founding minister of the Ming dynasty. Wencheng County takes its name from his posthumous title, "Wencheng" — a county named after a person, which is rare in Zhejiang.

In front of the Liu Ji Temple (Chengyi Bo Temple), the team lined up for a group photo. The temple is a Ming-era building, repaired several times over the centuries, but its layout remains.

The old residence was far quieter. Courtyard, lattice windows, grey brick walls — stepping inside felt like slowing time down a notch.
4. The Old Town and Its Yellow Lanterns
The last stop was the old town's streets.
Yellow lanterns hung the length of the covered walkway, swaying together whenever the wind came. The group walked from one end to the other — a fair distance.

5. A Bit of Fun Along the Way
On the viewing platform stood a large clay jar that anyone could try to lift.
One of our colleagues gave it a go — heavier than it looked. His face was red by the time he got it up, and everyone around burst out laughing.

6. The Way Back
On the way down, the group stopped once more by the pavilion at the pond, unrolled the banner and took one last group photo.

By the end of the day we had seen the mountains, the temple and the old street. A weekend like this means getting to know a few more people than the office allows.
