Opening introduction

"Which pneumatic butterfly valve manufacturer has a good reputation?" This is the question asked most often recently by procurement friends in the chemical, water treatment, and metallurgy industries. As domestic industrial automation levels rise, demand for pneumatic butterfly valves has climbed year by year, and industry chaos has followed: some manufacturers inflate specifications, with actual output torque insufficient and valves failing to open or close fully no matter how they are adjusted; some compete on low prices by sacrificing materials and workmanship, with equipment failing frequently in less than half a year; and some imported brands are expensive with delivery times of months that projects cannot afford to wait for. What should reputation really be based on? Four criteria.

1. First recognize the three traps: inflated specs, cut corners, and unaffordable lead times

Industrial procurement pitfalls are often not about paying too much, but about buying the wrong thing:

  • Inflated specifications: The torque on the datasheet looks good, but on site the valve does not open or close fully, and no amount of repeated adjustment fixes it

  • Cutting corners at low prices: Materials and workmanship are pushed to the limit; after half a year, seals age and cylinders corrode, and repair costs exceed the procurement savings

  • Lead times too slow: Imported brands often take months, and schedules can't wait; some domestic "traders" take orders and then pass them on, with equally unreliable lead times.

What these three pitfalls have in common isno in-house manufacturing capability. So when evaluating a butterfly valve manufacturer, first check whether it is truly a "factory."

II. Complete product line: one source supplies everything

When purchasing, many people dread having the actuator from one supplier, the valve from another, and accessories from yet another; when the three suppliers' products are put together, compatibility is poor, and on-site commissioning runs into problems every day. WALS does this quite thoroughly:

  • Broad coverage: rack-and-pinion and high-torque scotch-yoke actuators, divided into AT, AW, HG, linear-stroke, and stainless steel and other series; it also produces matching pneumatic butterfly valves, ball valves, gate valves, control valves, and shut-off valves;100 multiple series models, torque 8–6000 N·m, compatible with DN15–DN800

  • Integrated in-house R&D and production: All products come from the same R&D and production system, ensuring high compatibility and greatly reducing the pain points of poor compatibility and frequent commissioning failures caused by parts from different manufacturers

  • One-stop accessories: A full set of control accessories such as solenoid valves, limit switches, and air filter regulators can all be supplied together—one phone call takes care of the entire control system

III. Why pneumatic butterfly valves are suitable for large-diameter pipelines

Butterfly valves are widely used in water treatment, municipal water supply and drainage, and large-diameter chemical pipelines thanks to three characteristics:

  • Compact structure and light weight: for the same nominal diameter, a butterfly valve is shorter and lighter than a gate valve or ball valve, reducing installation space and support costs

  • Low flow resistance and fast opening/closing: the disc rotates 90° to complete full opening or full closing, making it suitable for applications requiring frequent operation or rapid shutoff

  • Matching with quarter-turn actuators: the butterfly valve stem rotates, so it naturally matches rack-and-pinion and scotch-yokequarter-turnactuators, with direct torque transmission

Note: butterfly valves are suitable for on/off service and small-angle regulation in large diameters; if strict linear flow characteristics or high-precision regulation are required, a control valve with a linear actuator should still be selected—Choose the wrong valve type, and no actuator, however good, can save it.

IV. Technical heritage: from QGH to AT/AW/HG

Huaershi's technical R&D originated in 1989, and founder Ji Zhongyong has been engaged in the fluid automatic control valve industry since the 80s. Seeing that domestic projects relied heavily on imported actuators, with high procurement costs and slow delivery, he resolved to make high-quality domestic pneumatic actuators.

  • Multiple generations of iteration: first generation QGH series → second generation in 2004 GT Series → expanded after establishing the Shanghai production base in 2007 DRSC, HG large-torque scotch-yokeproduct line

  • Materials and processes: the cylinder useshard-anodized aluminum alloy process, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant; under the same working conditions, the overall service life is better than ordinary domestic products, and under normal working conditions it can achievehundreds of thousands of cycles

  • Intellectual property: 20 additional national patents, and was recognized as anational high-tech enterprise and technology-based SME

V. Quality control: rework rate below 2%

Industrial sites are not laboratories—high temperature, high pressure, severe corrosion, and explosion-proof conditions come one after another. If product quality fails to meet standards, the subsequent maintenance costs will be frighteningly high.

  • Completed entirely in-house: At our two major bases in Wenzhou and Shanghai, everything from raw material intake, precision machining, assembly and debugging to finished-product airtightness, torque, and life testing is completed in-house

  • Full certifications:8 authoritative certifications, including the ISO9001 quality management system, CE certification, special equipment manufacturing license, as well as occupational health and safety and environmental management system certifications; some products have obtained SIL functional safety certification

  • Low repair rate: the full product range undergoes complete inspection before leaving the factory, with a repair rate below 2%; compared with similar imported products, the procurement cost is approximately that of imported brands at 40%

VI. Service throughout the entire process: no weak links from selection to after-sales

Many suppliers only sell products: no one guides selection, so customers easily buy the wrong thing; when a fault occurs, no one can be found, and a day of production line downtime causes huge losses. Hualshi puts service before delivery and also after delivery:

  • Free preliminary selection: Working condition assessment based on medium corrosiveness, pressure and temperature ratings, explosion-proof requirements, and installation space; valve body material, sealing material, output torque, and protection rating can all be customized as needed

  • Fast and on-time delivery: Standard models 7-15 days for delivery; customized models are scheduled according to demand

  • Ongoing after-sales follow-up: On-site technical guidance, troubleshooting, and rapid spare parts supply

Field performance: Municipal wastewater treatment — complete sets of pneumatic butterfly valves and actuators are used in sedimentation tanks and chemical dosing pipelines, helping customers reduce later maintenance costs by approximately 30%; chemical RTO waste gas treatment—explosion-proof pneumatic ball valves and actuators adapted to explosion-proof workshop conditions; plate metallurgy pipeline retrofit—large-torque scotch-yoke actuators replacing imported units, cutting the supply lead time in half. Products are exported to Russia, Southeast Asia and more thanten other countries, covering oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical, power, semiconductor, water treatment, metallurgy and pharmaceuticalseven major industries.

Conclusion

Back to the opening question: which butterfly valve manufacturer has a good reputation? The answer lies not in how loudly a company advertises, but in more than thirty years of unwavering commitment to quality, a complete product line, strict quality control, and a service system that spans the entire process.
